The Scorpio is a light anti-armor recon vehicle of the Cartel.

Gameplay[]

Scorpios are light, fast, have a long sight range and can devastate vehicles with their railguns, but have low health. They can be improved with optical camouflage and smoke rockets.

Used best in the early game, the Scorpio finds itself in a great situation to harass enemy supply lines, if given the chance, and does significant damage to attacking enemy vehicles on the ground. It can even cover allies with smoke rockets, freeing up artillery units like Koalitsija to continue pummelling them from afar. Its expanded sight range is important in skirmishes where it can stay out of the line of fire when shielded by friendly forces, and to provide view of enemy units for artillery to fire upon. The optical camouflage takes it further, allowing Scorpios to easily harass and destroy enemy artillery, exploiting their limited protection to ease defensive pressure.

Unfortunately, Scorpio does have a couple of main weaknesses that can significantly limit its potential. Scorpios have some of the lowest health values of all vehicles and its weapon, on top of its low fire rate, does nothing when it comes to anything else. They are unable to handle their own in fights, and almost always require some serious support. In anti-armor the likes of SuperHind, LOSAT, AMOS and even Shershens could do better. Scorpios however are not entirely outclassed even with the existence of Shadowhawk and Scout CGS, because while it can't offer any transport, it does dish out more damage and retains its use as a fast attacker.

Trivia[]

  • The Scorpio is visually identical to the High Survivability Test Vehicle- Lightweight (HSTV-L) tank testbed created by the United States in the 1970s. It was designed to operationally test the concept of speed over armor to enhance a vehicles survivability for future fighting vehicles. Only one was ever produced and saw testing until the mid-1980s.
