Raul Escobedo was the president and founder of the short lived Republica de Neuva California.
Rise to Power[]
Raul was a shady and corrupt drug dealer running his own militia. His connections appealed to the Cartel due to logistical benefits.
He staged a successful coup d'etat with the help of Cartel's Olympus Cell and Piet Vermaak. After Vermaak succeeds, Cartel leaves Escobedo as a puppet. At one point, he helped Cartel to positon equipment in Baja California, which Wittel would later evacuate for his last stand.
Death[]
Escobedo's militia are overthrown in a US-backed invasion. Informed by Chimera Colonel Greg C. Schaefer's recent discoveries on Zhang Yao regarding Escobedo's importance, UN High Commissioner Majken Lofquist tasks the Colonel to take him alive. After destroying his escape train with nEUROns, Schaefer's ground forces successfully capture him.
The Olympus Cell learns of Chimera's move. Concerned that he will inevitably be traced back to them, they hire the Belyie Volki to attack a UN convoy near the ICC before he could stand trial and managed to assassinate him.
The death of Escobedo proved to be a minor setback for Chimera. Due to the Belyie Volki's involvement, they were able to find leads despite Cartel's attempts to cover their tracks.
