  • Destroy 4 enemy mortars

Background[]

Recovering from their previous mission, Greg C. Schaefer and Majken Lofquist managed to identify a main training camp of Belyie Volki, the group behind the ICC assault. According to satellite images six hours ago, they are well-equipped, with heavy tanks and combat helicopters. Lofquist demands to know why they have advanced "nanosuits" which Schaeffer has no answer to as well. In the end, they agree the plan is to assault the location and capture the organization's HQ intact so they may obtain more leads from existing equipment and their leader, Dragan Vesnic.

Initial Assault[]

Schaefer directs a force of 2 Pumas with 4 FÉLINs each. Harding notices some SuperHinds escaping but there's still some activity. Schaefer is ordered to still go with the plan before the Cartel could destroy any evidence. The forces fight through some Contractors and manage to clear the area. Harding then requests a status update.

A Change Of Plans[]

Schaeffer reports his findings - Though there are no signs of Vesnic, Chimera forces did locate the advanced technology they're looking for. Cartel apparently attempted to destroy them with timed explosives, only to be thwarted when Chimera intervenes. Lofquist wants the gear secured for their experts, though Schaeffer points out that while they can run convoys through the highway, he needs the necessary resources to ensure their agenda goes unopposed due to enemy presence, including one Outpost for setup, and a second one to protect the checkpoint. Since Chimera has no other options, Lofquist gives him the green light.

Further Expansion[]

A Construction Outpost is established in the area to facilitate deployment with a Recon UGV. Chimera forces then set up several Refineries on oil deposits to build a SPEAR Vehicle Bay and Barracks. With their basic infrastructure done, Lofquist provides some more Pumas, SAS, a Ninja and FÉLINs in addition to units who survived the skirmish over there. Subsequently, the Chimera start pushing through and slowly clear Cartel units occupying the area through swarms of Contractors, Vipers, Vextras and Jackals.

Power Struggle[]

Now with their opposition gone, Chimera forces deploy a second Construction Outpost and extract aluminum in order to build Sentinel Turrets for defense around the Outpost. Soon after, defenseless Chimera convoys begin moving across the area. In response, the Cartel unleashes all of its avaliable resources in the area, including the AMOS mortar to the SuperHind helicopter in a fierce battle to stop the Chimera's plans while the latter defends themselves and their freight, occasionally moving up to remove enemy mortars harassing them. Eventually, with the help of the well-equipped turrets, Chimera ends up keeping all of their findings.

Walkthrough[]

The Pumas and FELINs at the beginning should be more than enough. Though two Pumas can't put down much fire, the FELINs are pretty good at CQC and when covered by Pumas, they will quickly clear out enemy Contractors.

The next step is to build a Barracks and SPEAR Vehicle Bay. There should be a Recon UGV for use to scout out nearby resources so Refineries can be constructed. Once you're able to build a Barracks and SPEAR Vehicle Bay you'll be given reinforcements, mostly additional Pumas, FELINs, SAS but also a Ninja. Using the Ninja strategically is important, as its long sight range and stealth allows you to figure out enemy movement and positions. Just be careful moving it around as Jackals are common around the area, which allow other enemy units to easily destroy it.

There are a few ways to clear out the occupied structures and positions, so balance your needs with your current economy. For those filled with enemy infantry, the safest choice is with the SAS, as they can pick off infantry easily at a distance, and do significant damage to enemy Vextras. Using Pumas and FELINs alone are not advisable due to the presence of Viper. If you manage to spot a Jackal, use some Pumas to destroy it as Jackals have low health and are ineffective against vehicles. Though the SAS could theoretically do so, the fact that Jackal destroys infantry units instantly makes it a risky matchup at best. Once the enemy presence is clear, send the Recon UGV to find aluminum fields so you can set up Refineries.

When you reach the checkpoint, you'll be prompted to deploy a second Outpost and convert it into another Construction Outpost so Sentinel Turrets can be established. Since you will need as many as possible and they must all be kept online, it's best to sell the first SPEAR Vehicle Bay and Barracks, instead building new ones at the second Outpost. Fully upgrading every Sentinel Turret is essential, as Vextras, Gurkhas, Jackals and Superhinds will all enter play, and with additional features they can tear these open in seconds. Infantry rarely poses a threat, as Sentinel Turrets outrange them and their gatling guns can destroy them easily. If you have excess resources produce as many Pumas and SAS as possible to support your Sentinel Turrets, while building additional Outposts should you require even more Sentinel Turrets. As long as the turrets are close enough, you shouldn't have any trouble, let alone losing a truck.

AMOS will harass you from time to time. They are rarely a threat as they don't hit close enough, but one objective requires destroying 4. Several Pumas can put down enough fire to destroy them. Your Sentinel Turrets will help when Superhinds come so there's no need to specifically target them.

Trivia[]

  • The Chimera's satellite imagery display the Abrams and Superhind as vehicles used by the Belyie Volki, both of which are never seen in use by the organization itself. Their only helicopter is the Gazelle, while their tanks consist of Black Eagles and T55AM2s.
  • The trucks featured during the mission are re-modeled Crushers that actually carry no freight. They are assumed to be assets appropriated by the Chimera from what remains of Belyie Volki's base.
