The Railgun Turret is a base defense for the Cartel.
Gameplay[]
Railgun Turrets have a slow rate of fire, but can target both air and ground with very high accuracy and has stealth detection. It can be further upgraded to operate without power at all.
These emplacements are essential to any Cartel base thanks to their ability to efficiently deal with enemy vehicles. Indeed, while Cartel isn't short on anti-vehicle options like any other faction (having both Shershen and Viper as infantry, and the likes of Scorpio/Spectre to deal with armor), it does greatly improve the chances of surviving such an onslaught due to its ability to target air. It complements the Artillery Turret rather well, since it can take out troublesome enemy vehicles and the aforementioned flying threat threats, which the the Artillery has no hopes of destroying on its own. Since it ignores enemy stealth, it is fully functional versus stealth units. The power consumption upgrade only makes it better, allowing it to continue defending even during a power shortage.
As with any other railgun unit, this turret has a long delay between each attack, doesn't have the best range, and does next to nothing to infantry. While infantry can be easily disposed of with either the Artillery Turret or other friendly units, enemy artillery can still snipe it at range and it cannot deal with large hordes of vehicles entirely, requiring assistance from other stealth units to ease the pressure. It does take a measly 1 power to function, so you will also have to watch your generators before building a new one, as the turret, just like any other powered building, can't be upgraded if electricity is in shortage. Finally, while 1000 aluminum is nowhere as high as the Phalanx, it's still expensive for what it does. Fortunately, in spite of these factors, Railgun Turrets are still versatile, and their defensive prowess cannot be dismissed.
